Plan to arrive for check-in by 8am on Friday, April 17th. The ADU Academy will be held at the Culver City Veterans Memorial Building at 4117 Overland Ave, Culver City, CA 90230.
Arrival & Event Details
Doors open at 8 am for check-in. Please arrive by 8:15 am, we will begin our Welcome session promptly at 8:30 am in the Auditorium. Coffee and light fare will be available.
Transportation and Directions
Parking is free and abundant, however, plan accordingly to ensure that you arrive to check in by 8:15.
Curriculum Design
ADU Academy has been designed with you in mind. We have formatted the day to ensure you gain exposure to all of the Academy’s core curriculum. We’ll be teaching the same track in two rooms to maximize engagement. Attendees will stay put. Instructors will swap rooms between sessions.
The curriculum is split into four sections, Real Estate, Design, Finance and Appraisal, and Build. Each section will be one hour. The day includes plenty of time to network with fellow attendees that are practicing in the local and national ADU industry.
Exam to Obtain an ADU Specialist designation
The exam to obtain an ADU Specialist designation will be available online immediately following the Academy for Academy participants. Please bring a laptop or tablet to complete the exam. We will be encouraging you to take the exam at 5pm. The exam will have 34 multiple choice questions. You must get a 70% passing grade. The exam is open book, open note. If you do not pass initial attempt, you may retest later.
Once you’ve obtained the ADU Specialist designation, you get an awesome ADU Specialist gift Kol has designed for this occasion. These will only be available to those who pass the ADU Specialist exam.
Breakout Sessions
In the afternoon, we’ll be doing deeper dive breakout sessions. This is the chance to interact with focused groups around specific detailed elements of those topic areas that will be determined by the interests of the registered attendees prior to the Academy. These are the breakout session topics.

Post Academy Social Event
The social event will be held from 5:30 pm - 7 pm at Jameson’s Pub. Ride the free bus from the venue!
This portion of the event is also open to industry professionals that did not attend the ADU Academy but wish to network!
Where to stay
There are abundant hotel options near the venue with the closest being the Travelodge by Wyndham. The colorful Villa Brasil and the hip Mayumi Motel are both less than 2 miles away.
Thursday Evening Social
Out-of-towners are encouraged to mingle at an optional meet up with other attendees on Thursday evening before the ADU Academy. Location will be announced in March.
